Transition! Hawaii is inviting you to share your news, photos and events for possible publication on our online Community pages. If your submission is published on our website you can win valuable prizes from Transition! Hawaii.

Submission Guidelines:

Transition! Hawaii is inviting student writers, photographers, and artist to submit work for possible publication on our Web site. Transition! Hawaii covers a wide range of education related topics, but of course we know there is much more to being a student than academics. At www.transitionhawaii.com, students can be the voice of their community.

Topics:

There is a wide range of topics that you can submit, everything from personal interest stories to the latest happenings in your community/school. The list below just scratches the surface.

Teen Issues:
Being a new American, bullies and bullying, pressure to do well in school, friendship, how to help a friend who is taking drugs or drinking, etc.
Teen Health and Wellness:
Staying fit, overcoming an eating disorder, dealing with a serious illness, etc.
Teen Sports:
Report on your school's games, athletic teams, players, etc.
Reviews:
School plays, books, classes, music, videos, etc.

Rules:

  • Stories should between 300 – 1,000 words.
  • Photographs and artwork must be submitted in digital format.
  • Stories that include photographs or artwork must be submitted together.
  • Include your name, year of birth, home address/city/state/zip, telephone number, and the name of your school on each submission. You must be 13 to 19 years old to be published. You will be identified by first name only unless you request anonymity.
  • We will not publish slurs, profanity or inappropriate content. Choose words and images wisely!
  • We need parent/guardian permission if you are under 18. We’ll send you a form to include with your submission if it is accepted.
  • All work must be original and created by the person that is submitting the work.
  • Writing may be edited. We reserve the right to publish our edited version without prior approval.
  • All works submitted will become the property of Transition! Hawaii and all copyrights are assigned to Transition! Hawaii. We retain the non-exclusive rights to publish all such works in any format.

Deadline for Submissions:

There is no deadline to submit your story, photograph or artwork. You can send your materials to Transition! Hawaii at any time.
