The Right AVIDTude
Jerika Salvador graduated from Radford High School last year, but she still returns to her old stomping grounds four times a week for tutoring.
Her part-time tutoring job, that is.
The 18-year-old dedicates 12 hours a week to tutoring students enrolled in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) class. AVID tutors are college students or graduates, trained in methodologies such as: the writing process, Socratic questioning, and collaborative reading and learning.
